Created on 1 January 2014, the Center of Research in Myology, headed by Prof. Bertrand Fontaine, is a Research Pole of excellence dedicated to understanding basic muscle mechanisms in their environment (at the level of the cell, such as neurons and inflammatory cells, or at the level of the entire body, including other organs targeted by muscular diseases, such as the heart) and to translating these discoveries into new concepts to improve care for patients with muscular diseases.
At the Institute of Myology, it encompasses more than 100 researchers, doctors, engineers, technicians, doctoral and postdoctoral students from INSERM, Sorbonne University, the CNRS and AIM.
