Myology 2016 : the beginning of the therapeutic era for neuromuscular diseases

Myology 2016, the international congress of myology organized by AFM-Téléthon has ended last week. It gathered 982 international experts in the field (researchers, clinicians, doctors…) have compared their latest work for 5 days. This edition was undoubtedly marked by the beginning of the therapeutic era for neuromuscular diseases with the presentation of clinical trials results in human and the first lessons learnt from those trials.

 

The institute of Myology

The Institute of Myology has been well represented in the congress Myology 2016 and 11 oral communications -plenary sessions and symposia- have been provided by physicians and researchers from the institute and 45 posters were exposed. In addition, the prize for the best talk at the “Young Investigators Symposium” was awarded to P. Klein (MCR, Team 3).

Besides, people from Myobank (S. Vasseur and M. Chapart-Leclert) and from the Platform for the immortalisation of human cells from the MCR (A. Bigot) set up a stand to inform researchers and foster collaborations, whereas Myotools innovative tools for diagnosis and evaluation were exposed by J.-Y. Hogrel and L. Servais‘ teams.
