Awards for two young researchers from the Institute at the WMS 2026 conference

Numerous researchers and clinicians from the Institute of Myology took part, presenting their latest work on a wide range of topics, including myositis, myotonic dystrophy, congenital muscular dystrophies and laminopathies. They highlighted the excellence and diversity of the research currently being carried out at the Institute.

Special congratulations go to Gisèle Bonne, who had the honour of delivering the prestigious Dubowitz Lecture on the final day of the conference, sharing her inspiring ‘Journey around the nuclear envelope’;  to Julian Dal Cin for his presentation in the ‘Poster Highlight’ category; and to Louise Benarroch for her contribution to the ‘Late-Breaking News’ session.

Two awards were won by the Institute’s experts this year:

Audrey El Kaïm, physiotherapist at the Neuromuscular Physiology and Evaluation Laboratory, at the NIC, received the WMS Allied Health Award for her collaborative work entitled ‘Sexuality, intimate life and quality of life in people with neuromuscular diseases and disabilities’.

Eline Lemerle, postdoctoral research fellow in the Muscle cell organisation and therapy for dominant centronuclear myopathy team at the CRM, was awarded the President’s Prize for Best Basic Science for her research project ‘Dystrophin controls clathrin-mediated endocytosis and endolysosomal homeostasis’.
