MFM is now available as an app: pros and cons

The teams in Lyon and Saint-Étienne, who designed and developed the Motor Function Measure (MFM), have announced that it is now available on a mobile app called MFM-Play:

  • this new digital version of the MFM allows for better consideration of the patient’s environment, particularly at home or at the physiotherapist’s practice,
  • two groups of seven physiotherapists took part in evaluations and interviews to identify the tool’s strengths and weaknesses,
  • the feedback has been generally positive, but obstacles – particularly organisational and technical ones – remain to this day.

As with many digital innovations, this paradigm shift requires a rethinking of the triad comprising the patient, the physiotherapist and the digital interface.
