2026 edition of the ‘1,000 researchers in schools’ campaign

Now in its 14th year, the ‘1,000 Researchers in Schools in France and Abroad’ initiative will take place from 2 November to 4 December in secondary schools. Once again this year, experts from the Institute will be taking part in this initiative to raise awareness of medical research and careers in science, focusing on rare genetic diseases and the search for treatments using innovative biotherapies.
Over the course of 13 editions, our scientific experts have delivered nearly 13,000 talks across France, reaching more than 492,000 pupils from Year 9 to A-levels, both in mainland France and internationally. These sessions provide an opportunity to share ideas and gain an insight into the reality of researchers’ work, helping pupils to better understand genetics, rare diseases, cell therapy, stem cells, all the latest advances in molecular biology, as well as research and the careers it offers.
This initiative, approved by the French Ministry of Education, is organised by the AFM-Téléthon with the support of the Association of Biology and Geology Teachers (APBG).
