“Complexité du Vivant” doctoral school
The “Complexité du Vivant” doctoral school (ED515), jointly accredited by Sorbonne University and the École Normale Supérieure Ulm, was created on 1 January 2009 following the reorganisation of the range of courses offered by Université de Paris and Sorbonne University.
It draws on around 160 host teams bringing together more than 300 researchers and academic teaching staff accredited to supervise research (HDR). These teams are based at several sites, the main ones being the Jussieu campus, the Montagne Sainte-Geneviève (École Normale Supérieure, Institut Curie, IBPC), the Institut Pasteur, the Pitié-Salpêtrière, the Institut du Fer à Moulin, and the Sorbonne University marine biology stations.
In broad terms, the thematic scope of ED515 covers genomics, cell biology, developmental biology and microbiology. Its teams work with a very wide variety of model organisms, and a significant proportion of the projects they conduct follow an integrative approach combining multiple methods and different levels of analysis. The doctoral school therefore fosters cross-disciplinary relationships and opportunities for interaction between the various research hubs in the Paris region.
