Our activities

A leading patient-centred institute

Our four research and care divisions

Consultation at the Service of Neuro-Myology

To coordinate medical care for neuromuscular diseases around the patient: adult and paediatric consultations, day admissions and psychological support.

Neuromuscular Investigation Center

To investigate muscle tissue at the level of the cells and of the organ as a whole, and to assess patients’ muscle strength and motor function using tools designed and developed by the laboratory.

The Clinical Trials and Registries and Databases division

To run paediatric and adult clinical trials through the I-Motion platforms, and to build and manage registries and databases dedicated to neuromuscular diseases.

Center of Research in Myology and Platforms

To conduct leading basic, applied and translational research, supported by nine scientific teams, six technology platforms and the Myobank-AFM tissue bank.

Without muscle, it is impossible to move, walk, speak, laugh, or even eat or breathe… Beyond movement and mobility, muscles interact with many organs and biological mechanisms and are essential to our overall health. They act as indicators of our general state of health: cholesterol regulation, strengthening of the immune system, reduced osteoporosis, prevention of chronic diseases (cancers, cardiovascular diseases, diabetes…), the health of the young and the independence of older people, health at work…

Through its multidisciplinary approach and its translational research expertise in muscle and muscle disease, the Institute of Myology is today among the world leaders in the field of myology.  Our ambition is to go further still and to create a Foundation of Myology (“Fondation de Myologie”) that will multiply our capacity, strengthen our collaborations in France and abroad, and give myology fresh impetus.
