The 27th AcadeMYO Summer School of Myology, held at the Institute of Myology in Paris from June 29 to July 3, 2026, welcomed 28 participants from diverse professional backgrounds. Directed by Prof. Bertrand Fontaine and supported by an international program committee led by Dr J. Andoni Urtizberea, the course focused on current advances in myology and practical approaches to the diagnosis and management of neuromuscular disorders.
Over the course of five days, the program combined expert lectures, clinical case discussions, and hands-on workshops. Key topics included muscular dystrophies, Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease and other hereditary neuropathies, muscle channelopathies, metabolic myopathies, myotonic dystrophies, myasthenia gravis, spinal muscular atrophy, congenital and distal myopathies, advanced MRI biomarkers, and innovative movement analysis.

Participants also took part in practical workshops and on-site visits covering muscle histology, myogenetics and bioinformatics, electrophysiology, muscle electron microscopy, neuromuscular physiology, NMR imaging and spectroscopy, clinical trials, muscle ultrasound, respiratory management, and a historical tour of the Salpêtrière Hospital. The interactive and international learning environment fostered valuable knowledge exchange and professional networking.
Accredited by the EACCME® with 29.5 European CME credits, the Summer School received excellent feedback from participants. The organizing committee remains committed to maintaining its highly interactive, practice-oriented format while continuously updating the scientific program to reflect the latest advances in myology.
