4th European Myasthenia Gravis Day on 2 June

2 June 2026 marks the 4th European Myasthenia Gravis Day. Created on the initiative of the All United for MG coalition, which brings together patient organisations and representatives from seven European countries (Belgium, France, Germany, Greece, Italy, Romania and Spain), this symbolic day serves to raise awareness of this neuromuscular autoimmune disease. Unpredictable and often invisible, it affects, according to prevalence estimates, between 56,000 and 112,000 people in Europe (including around 23,000 people in France, or nearly 1 in 3,000). Every year, 1,500 new cases are diagnosed, and a third of patients are over 65.

At the Institute of Myology, Rozen Le Panse heads the Myasthenia Gravis: etiology, pathophysiology & therapeutic approach team, within the Centre for Myology Research. The team uses a range of immunological, cellular and molecular techniques, including pan-genomic approaches, to better understand the pathophysiological mechanisms of myasthenia gravis and to elucidate the events involved in the onset and chronicity of this disease, with the long-term aim of developing new therapies.
