Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a neurodegenerative disease that attacks the motor neurons controlling muscles, leading to progressive paralysis. Gaining a better understanding of the interactions between nerves and muscles is a key challenge in developing new therapeutic approaches, as there is currently no curative treatment for this disease. All proceeds from this charity football match will be donated to the Association Institut de Myologie -an international centre of expertise founded by AFM-Téléthon dedicated to muscle and its diseases- to support the development of therapies, particularly gene therapies, to treat ALS.
A worthy cause that will inspire both teams: the “Vert Legends”, led by captain Loïc Perrin, alongside Dominique Rocheteau, Pascal Feindouno, Mathieu Debuchy and Stéphane Ruffier, and the “Heroes”, brought together by Paul de Saint-Sernin, with Eden Hazard, Javier Pastore, Paul Mirabel, Thomas Ngijol and Artus, and more.
Fans can look forward to a legendary match set to ignite the ‘Chaudron’ at 7.30 pm on May 31 will also pay tribute to Georges Bereta, the iconic former captain of “Les Verts” and the French national team, who passed away from ALS in 2023.
