This year, the 9th edition of the scientific information operation for 3rd year and high school students “1000 researchers in schools in France and abroad” will take place between November 8 and December 3.
The 8 previous editions gave rise to just over 8,000 interventions by the scientific experts of the AFM-Telethon throughout France, for nearly 297,000 students. A moment of sharing and making contact with the reality of researchers, generating very strong demand since the 1st edition, which even in a period of a pandemic has not dried up.
In 2021, the COVID-19 pandemic continues to cause uncertainties about the meeting and event formats. But one thing is certain, the wish is, as in 2020, to maintain the operation by privileging as much as possible the principle of the operation, namely a face-to-face meeting. Indeed, the 2020 edition has largely shown that while the video-conference format made it possible to carry out interventions, the face-to-face gives the exchange between the researcher and the students another much more qualitative dimension, which makes a lasting impression.
