Laminopathies: 3rd meeting of the LMNA consortium

An international scientific meeting on the congenital forms of laminopathies was held at the end of October at the Institute of Myology, Paris.

After Paris in 2014 then Barcelona in 2015, the LMNA consortium met for the 3rd time at the Institute of Myology (Paris) on October 24 and 25, 2016. Organised by Dr. G. Bonne (Institute of Myology) and Prof. S. Quijano-Roy (Hôpital Raymond Pointcarré, Garches), with the support of the American association “Cure-CMD” and the Spanish foundation “Andres Macio” and in the presence of patients and their families, it allowed researchers and clinicians to review the progress in research on congenital forms of laminopathies.

Clinicians and researchers shared their experiences and work on congenital forms of laminopathies: studies on the heart, therapeutic approaches, a database, a retrospective study to better describe the natural history of the disease …
Rich in exchanges and discussions, this meeting provided an opportunity not only to continue the work begun in the previous two meetings and to share advanced knowledge but also to establish or pursue scientific collaborations. Following these discussions, a round table reviewed what had been achieved since the previous meeting in Barcelona and helped to set priorities for future projects to be implemented.

This international working seminar ended with a final half-day dedicated to patients and their families who were able to ask all their medical and scientific questions to doctors and researchers.
