The Association Institut de Myologie and the Foch-IMM Group (Foch Hospital and Institut Montsouris) have announced that they have entered into a strategic partnership aimed at promoting myology – the science and medicine of muscle – and developing clinical research, as well as the study and assessment of muscle, in the field of neuromuscular disorders and, more broadly, muscle impairments associated with a wide range of diseases treated at Foch Hospital and Institut Montsouris (IMM).
Myology is a cross-disciplinary field that is relevant to most medical specialities. Exploring the role and function of muscle as well as its alterations related to disease, has the potential to provide concrete answers to major challenges in innovation and prevention. Muscle mass is a key determinant of our overall health and, as such, its preservation represents a major public health issue and a lever for primary, secondary and tertiary prevention.
In terms of clinical research, this partnership will enable the establishment and monitoring of specific patient cohorts, as well as the long-term collection of clinical, functional and biological data. The complementarity between the patient care capabilities of at Foch Hospital and Institut Montsouris, and the scientific and medical expertise in the field of myology of the Association Institut de Myologie -particularly in the exploration and functional assessment of muscle – will foster the implementation of structured clinical studies, including joint participation in therapeutic trials.
This partnership also aims to develop research projects based on the analysis of health data, imaging data and human biological samples, drawing on the world-class expertise and technological platforms of the Association Institut de Myologie.
Through this strategic partnership and future collaborations, the three organisations are pleased to strengthen together expertise, clinical research, and assessment in the field of myology: muscle is a driving force for innovation and prevention, advancing health for all.
