Full speed ahead towards the 4th week of muscle building and the 2026 Muscle Conference!

The Winter Olympics are an opportunity to remind ourselves of something obvious: muscles are not only responsible for athletic prowess and performance, they are above all a major public health issue. Indeed, by interacting with many organs, muscles are central to our overall good health. To raise awareness among as many people as possible and encourage the inclusion of muscle health in public policy, the Institute of Myology and the AFM-Telethon are organising the following events in 2026: the 4th Muscle Week from 1 to 7 June and the 2nd « Muscle Conferences » on 2 June at the Ministry of Health!

Without muscles, it would be impossible to move, walk, talk, laugh, or even eat or breathe… But beyond that, muscles interact with many organs and biological mechanisms. This organ, long underestimated, is at the heart of all the major challenges facing contemporary society: preventing common, serious and debilitating diseases (cancer, cardiovascular disease, diabetes, etc.), combating sedentary lifestyles, adapting to lifestyle changes, ageing and independence, therapeutic innovation, and more. Muscle health plays an essential role at all stages of life. This recent awareness, resulting from advances in myology, the science of muscles, must now be translated into concrete action in all areas: medicine and biomedical research, prevention, education, work organisation, urban planning, etc.

The AFM-Telethon and the Institute of Myology invite you to join them:

  • From 1 to 7 June, the 4th edition of Muscle Week will continue to raise public awareness of the importance of healthy muscles through information, events and open days at laboratories dedicated to muscle research…
  • On Tuesday 2 June, the Muscle Conference 2026 (following a first edition in 2023) will be held at the Ministry of Health and will attempt to answer the question: why and, above all, how can we act today to place muscle health at the heart of our public policies?

Experts from the worlds of business and sport, as well as doctors, will discuss three topics during three round tables:

Muscles, from before birth to the end of adolescence…an asset for life

An active life…not so active! Maintaining and developing your muscle mass

Advanced age, a health and social issue. Preserving muscle mass and the challenges of muscle reconditioning
