Highlights from the 2025 AcadeMYO Winter School

The Institute of Myology successfully organised the 2025 AcadeMYO Winter School, held entirely online, bringing together an international community to address the major current challenges in myology.

This edition, held from 8 to 10 December, welcomed 32 participants from 16 countries — the United Kingdom, Brazil, New Zealand, Lebanon, Spain, Germany, Austria, the Philippines, Portugal, Italy, Russia, Kyrgyzstan, Australia, France and Malaysia — once again illustrating the international reach of the Institute of Myology.

The programme comprised 12 hours of training, combining theoretical lectures, and clinical case discussions. Sixteen international experts shared their expertise and scientific advances, providing participants with an up-to-date overview of diagnostic pathways and therapeutic challenges in myology.

The Winter School was led and facilitated by Andoni Urtizberea, whose commitment and expertise helped create an interactive, stimulating learning environment that encouraged discussion and exchange.

Through this initiative, the Institute of Myology reaffirms its key role in training, knowledge dissemination and the development of international collaborations, in the service of patients with neuromuscular diseases.
