Once again, 1000 researchers in schools!

From November 6th to December 1st, scientific experts, supported by the AFM-Téléthon, will meet students in high schools and colleges in France and abroad, as part of operation “1000 researchers in schools”, in partnership with the Biology and Geology Teachers’ Association (APBG).

At the initiative of the AFM-Téléthon, the 5th edition of the “1000 researchers in schools” campaign starts today. A great opportunity for students to meet and share with researchers. The dawn of new vocations?

This year, nearly 36,000 high school students will enjoy a unique opportunity to meet and interact with a scientist – researcher, engineer, technician … – invited to their classes by their professors (often from life and earth sciences). They will be able to discover innovative therapies (gene therapy and cell therapy) and gather information and testimonials about the various research professions and everyday life in laboratories.

“Seeing young people’s interest in what we do, I can only be delighted at the idea of transmitting the passion for science, solidarity and the desire to make them future actors/donors, for a cause they believe in” said one participant.

In the last 4 years, more than 155,000 students have participated and more than 1,000 expert interventions are planned in 2017 in 350 institutions.
