Third year bachelor’s degree students trained in myology

Since the creation of the Institute of Myology, its members have been involved in teaching science and medicine, with over 800 hours of lectures per year. These hours include participation in more than 20 university or inter-university diplomas.

However, for the first time this year, an optional unit dedicated to myology was proposed to third year Health Science* bachelor’s students: the result of a collaboration between the Institute of Myology and the University Paris Descartes. This course, comprised of 19 lectures, is coordinated by Christophe Chanoine** who has called upon myology expert researchers and clinicians from these two organisations: F. Charbonnier, X. Coumoul, E. Krejci, C. Legay, C. Massaad and D. Zytnicki from University Paris Descartes, and A. Ferry, T. Gidaro, and L. Servais from the Institute of Myology.

Teresa Gidaro has given 7 lectures covering the entire clinical section: motor neuron pathology, muscular dystrophies, congenital myopathies, translational research, the contribution of outcome measures to evaluate the efficacy of a drug, therapeutic strategies, and therapeutic trials in neuromuscular diseases.
The lectures were followed with keen interest by the 11 enrolled biology students, and one of them has contacted T. Gidaro to carry out an internship at I-Motion.
