1. The request
The president of the Myobank Scientific Committee analyzes the request.
The role of Myobank is to provide the samples required by the researcher as soon as possible. In order to accomplish this, if no samples are available in supply, Myobank depends on its network of collaborations with doctors to collect the sample.
2. The sample
The sampling of human tissues or cells is carried out by doctors.
The following are collected :
• surgical remains, collected towards the end of surgery
• samples carried out on the basis of a defined clinical research protocol, respecting the law of Huriet
• the remains of diagnostic biopsies
• sampling carried out by an anatomopathologist during organ donation or autopsy, with the agreement of concerned individuals.
3. Preparation
The sample is packaged according to its expected use, in order to maintain the intrinsic qualities of the tissue.
The various preparations carried out at Myobank allow :
• cell cultures
• biochemical studies
• studies requiring the preservation of morphology
The follow-up and the transmission of information concerning the sample are ensured by the GBC© database.
4. Storage or transport
If a tissue sample is not required by a researcher, it is stored at Myobank.
Myobank can also, at the request of researchers, ensure the storage of samples and reserve them.
The transport means is chosen according to safety criteria and by respecting the conditions of preservation.
