The NMR laboratory at the Institute of Myology is equipped with two high-performance spectrometer-imagers, one Bruker Biospec 4T/60 cm and a Siemens 3T Trio Tim.
The two machines have very complementary technical capabilities. They allow a very large field of investigations in the muscle of small animals, large animals and humans. High resolution imaging of small animals is possible on the Bruker magnet thanks to a high-performance gradient insert delivering 200mT/m with a slew rate of 1200mT/m/s. Multi-nuclear interleaved imaging and spectroscopy protocols can also be conducted in routine conditions on the Bruker system and allows a wide range of dynamic functional investigations of muscle. To our knowledge, our laboratory is the only one capable of offering such a methodology to collaborative partners. The Siemens Trio Tim is a state-of-the-art imager and is equipped with 32-channel receiver technology. Optimal use of the technology for muscle imaging applications is the subject of scientific partnership with the manufacturer.
