The Institute of Myology is organised around several research activities :
- Genetic, physiopathological, and gene and/or cell therapy research into affections centred on the cardiac and skeletal muscles: UMR 787 - Myology Group, UMRS 582, NMR Laboratory, Neuromuscular Physiology Laboratory
- The Morphology Unit situated in the Risler Pavilion is responsible for the identification and morphological characterisation of genetic neuromuscular diseases in the adult and child
- The development of clinical and therapeutic research protocols. Thus, the trials which are taking place at the Institute of Myology cover both the field of natural history studies of genetic muscle diseases as well as pharmacological therapy, cell, gene or enzyme therapy and also exertion retraining
- The Tissue Bank for Research, created by the AFM in 1996 in order to allow research teams easier access to tissue samples necessary to their research
