Clinical research protocols

In 2006, there were 24 clinical research protocols ongoing or pending at the Institute. These trials covered several different fields : natural history of genetic muscular diseases, pharmacological therapy, cell therapy, gene therapy, enzyme therapy as well as effort retraining.
Evolution of protocols
It should be noted that, besides the trials investigated directly by teams from the Institute, the AFM or Généthon, the technological and scientific platform of the Institute is recognised by well-known organisations (the American company, NIH; Genzyme) which have chosen it for certain of their trials.

In general terms, among these protocols we can distinguish between protocols of clinical research with cognitive aims, and protocols with therapeutic aims. Practically all these protocols have received the support of the AFM, and many were set up with the promotion and support of INSERMor the Assistance Pubilque – Hôpitaux de Paris (APHP). Some have been the subject of contracts with industrial partners.

Some have need the agrement of  the CCPPBR: Consultative Committee for the Protection of Persons taking part in Biomedical Research (ethical comittee).
