1987

First Telethon

The generous support of the French people to the Telethon provide AFM with funding for the long-standing and far-reaching project to create a research and care institute dedicated to the muscle. AP-HP gives the go-ahead for the setting up of the Institute at the Pitié-Salpêtrière hospital.

1990

Pluridisciplinary consultation

Meanwhile, AP-HP sets up a pluridisciplinary consultation for neuromuscular diseases at the Risler pavillion.

1993

Signature

Signature of the AP-HP/AFM agreement protocol.
AP-HP launches the construction work.

1996

The University Diploma

January :Pr Fardeau gives the first lecture in myology  as an introduction to the University Diploma of Neuromuscular Pathology.
June :setting up of Inserm Unit 153.

1997

Official opening

In April, the pluridisciplinary consultation is transfered from the Risler pavillion to the new Institute building.

1998

First Summer School in Myology

First gene therapy trial in Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy
